Blackened Steak Sandwich

Super Sub Buns


  • 1- 3 to 4 pound Beef Tenderloin, Sirloin, or Eye-of-Round Roast
  • 2 Tbsp. Olive Oil
  • 2 tsp. Kosher Salt
  • 2 Tbsp. freshly ground black pepper
  • Aunt Millie's Super Sub Buns
  • Cooking spray or melted butter
  • 8 slices cheddar cheese
  • Horseradish Mayonnaise - Recipe Below
  • Bag of Spring Green Salad Blend

Yield: Makes 8 Sandwiches with plenty of leftover steak for Cheesy Beef Sandwiches


  1. Heat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Rub meat with oil and season with salt and pepper
  3. Place in roasting pan and bake uncovered for about 50-60 minutes. (internal temperature should be about 140 degrees. The temp will rise while resting.)
  4. Remove from oven, cover with aluminum foil, and let rest at least 5 minutes.
  5. Cut to desired thickness.
  6. While roast is resting, coat Aunt Millie's Super Sub buns with cooking spray or melted butter. Toast them (opened and laying flat) in the oven on a cookie sheet for about 5 minutes.
  7. Remove from the oven and let them cool.
  8. Spread the horseradish mayonnaise on each bun, and top each with steak, cheddar cheese, and a bunch of the spring green salad blend.

Horseradish Mayonnaise:

  • 1/2 cup prepared mayonnaise
  • 2 Tablespoons prepared horseradish, drained
  • Pinch of salt


  • Whisk all ingredients together in a small bowl.
  • Season, to taste, with the salt.
  • Cover and refrigerate at least 30 minutes before using.
